Screen. Plan. Execute.
Phase one of the project was to work along side of the recruiting agency to get the best testing participants based on the criteria we outlined. We then created a testing plan that was reviewed and approved be the client. The testing plan outlined our goals for testing, how we will conduct the tests, and some sample questions that will be asked.
Testing Goals
Understand what motivates users to purchase events
Identify what interface or content elements could interfere with people’s ability to purchase the events
Identify what information is necessary to support their decision to purchase events
Identify any usability and/or comprehension issues with the existing site
Identify any missing information
Once our goals were set, we outlined the discussion guide based on testing participant criteria. Our discussion guides purpose was to help moderate the testing and keep question’s consitent from test to test. The outline consisted of general questions, tasks to complete based off our goals and probing questions based on certain actions or road blocks.
Distill. Present.
During testing we Leaned how the users first interact with the site and where their motivations take them. Understood whether or not the marketing messages and supporting content meets their expectations and proactively answers any questions they may have. Determined what is meaningful and critical to each customer which helped us to validate what is being displayed. And identified any confusing or complex elements.
Going through days of user research is a tedious but very important step of the process. This is where you find the commonalities, road blocks, themes and big takeaways. UserZooms features allow for some handy organization and quick searching through days of testing. Narrowing down all the research into easy to digest take aways and recommendations is key for adoption. Continually coming back to our original goals to validate our actions.
